Take control of distractions

Take control of distractions

A driver safety device that reduces cognitive load. Drive with the freedom of knowing you are 20 times less distracted.

About the project

Welcome to anoloc

Driver safety has been a concern for over a decade as a result of the emergence of in-car HMI displays across major manufacturers. The ever increasing size of displays have a positive correlation to increased glance duration. This is as result of longer icon-searching periods on these large displays and complex sub menus. Unfortunately anoloc is not here to redesign these interfaces.

However!

Anoloc is an ignition blocker, preventing the driver to start the car until the phone is docked. When docked functionality is transferred to CarPlay and Android Auto as usual. These displays mimic that of a phone, however, with a couple of advantages over a phone. Firstly, the angle of deviation (how much you have to tilt you head down away from the road) is less than a hand held phone. Secondly, they are fixed in place often with controls within the reach of the natural driving position.

Challanges

Why anoloc

The benefits of reduced cognitive load by removing phone usage with 4 times less likely collision accidents for hand-held callign and up to 20 times less likely if texting.

Anoloc is a 3 step ignition blocker requiring the phone to be docked on the wireless charging base. This activates the overlay button, allowing the driver to push button start. This simultaneously locks and disables the touchscreen on the phone, whilst preserves all functions normally accessible through CarPlay or Android Auto.
